How the 2.0% rebate is funded
Once-off orders: the planning model assumes a typical retail buffer of roughly R400-R500 per pack. At that assumed margin, a 2.0% rebate may represent approximately R25-R34 per pack, depending on the merchandise value.
SmartStokvelβ’ orders: no item markup is assumed in this model. The proposed rebate funding comes from consolidated fulfilment efficiencies, such as delivering a school batch together instead of sending many separate parcels.
For example, the planning estimate assumes 200-400 packs delivered together to a school hall could lower freight from around R160 per individual parcel to under R25 per pack. This comparison is indicative only: actual costs vary by route, volume, packaging and fulfilment requirements. The MOU and final reconciliation must confirm that the rebate is funded before any amount becomes payable.
